An interesting question, which means it will never leave the blogosphere and be picked up by the Old School Media:
The single question that needs to be asked is: “Were the rounds taken out of the wounded CIA assistant regional safety officers 7.62 mm or 5.56 mm?”
The folks over at Conservative Report make a strong case: was the United States – i.e. the Clinton State Department, Panetta’s Pentagon, Petraeus’ CIA and the Obama Administration – arming the Libyan rebels? If so, they would have likely armed them with US-style rifles, most of which use the standard NATO 5.56mm bullet. The Conservative Reports folks theorize that the Benghazi mission was to disarm the Libyan rebels after successfully removing Qaddafi, which probably pissed them off and caused them to overrun the Benghazi facility.
Given that Qaddafi was overthrown by militant Al Qaeda sympathizers, convincing them to overrun the Benghazi facility and kill Americans probably wasn’t too difficult.
And given that the vast majority of the people working out of the Benghazi facility were CIA, this question is relevant – and we’ll probably never know the answer.
